Complete mystery to me. That seems impossible unless this is the only thing you do on your free time (no self-development anymore, no learning anymore).
Once you're done with your day job (I have no idea why they're called a 9-5 when it's actually an 8-6 in most cases), and are done with your various chores, you have at most 4 hours of free time in front of you until you need to go to bed. This assumes you have no friends who send you text messages, no problems to actively think about, and that you don't need to do heavy cooking or cleaning this evening. 4 hours is hardly enough time to enjoy most video games thoroughly. They are notorious time sinks and every forced interruption ruins your mood. One could also argue all the pleasure of immersing yourself in a fantastic alternate universe is spoiled by the dread of having to work tomorrow.
The weekends are finally when you get to play, but you'll usually spend your whole Saturday mornings in bed because of sleep debt, you'll get distracted by something in the afternoon, and your Sundays will be spoiled by the notion of the approaching Monday. Often, your weekends are entirely "wasted" by family obligations.
Maybe it's just my pessimistic, moody imagination but I can't see how video games and adulting are compatible. If they are, it comes at the cost of complete personal and intellectual stagnation.
