I'll admit I worded my post poorly. What I intended to convey was that it would have taken Europe much longer to progress assuming they had no outside influences, unlike what Asia experienced in our world. In this scenario, Europe might still resemble its earlier state even in the 21st century. Additionally, Europe would likely never have industrialized because, like the Chinese emperors, European kings would have feared that industrial society would lead to social progress and ultimately the toppling of the ruling class. Consequently, events like the French Revolution and the gradual decline of feudalism would have been significantly delayed.
