Experiment How can some people not understand escalators (moving stairs)

How can some people not understand the basic concept of "man gets on block and block goes up, man goes up with it"?

There is no need to imagine force, velocity and other sort of physics.

In fact, one could observe other people (who have ridden it before) getting on the escalators and copy what they are doing.

Instead we see first time users trip themselves on it.

I think even children can solve this "mystery" because the concept of a man getting on top of a moving block is literally primitive in video games.
