If you are like me you probably read a couple lines and forget what you just read. Set a timer for 30 mins or 15 mins on your phone and see how far you can get. Once the timer is over recap to yourself what you just read. You can ask chatgpt something like "recap chapters 123 of xyz" to see how close you got.
