I'm really sorry to hear that. When mine first got bad it was really quite concerning. I was finding it hard to do anything even eat.
But in time I learned how to at least vaguely cope.

I wash my hands too much too. But I don't think it's bad enough to do them too much harm. Also I use good moisturisers.

I feel like there are only two main ways to deal with it that I've found so far. Unless I'm forgetting some, lol
- peer pressure. other people being around helps me loads
- rationalising the fear away. this often calms me enough to push through however much of the fear is left
Just pushing myself through it without either of these things being the case really doesn't seem to work. It's too difficult.

i've been dealing with OCD for about 12 years, but things have gotten a lot better now. before i started taking SSRIs, the obsessive thoughts were driving me crazy, and i would wash my hands like 20 times in a row. i was especially fixated on even numbers, so i couldn't feel at ease unless i repeated things an even number of times.
i'm planning to stop taking SSRIs this october, but since i've been on them for about 10 years, i'm worried that some side effects like reduced libido might stick around even after i quit.

Ah wow. Yeah I was uneasy about taking anything that would mess with my head. I feel like I'd wonder if my thoughts were even truly my own anymore.
