I make $6 above minimum wage a hour and the cheapest place I can find is 60% of my monthly income, that’s not counting utility costs. It’s also a bad neighborhood, my neighbors would no doubt be criminals and single mothers. I can’t make anymore money because my SAD (social anxiety disorder) makes it nearly impossible for me to work a normal job.

I have major health problems so I’m constantly going to the hospital and specialists. I owe like $10,000 in medical bills and have to pay $300 a month just to keep them from sending me to collections.

I’m living at my parents house in a less than 200sq foot room, my queen size bed is the same length as my room and nearly as wide. I need to get out of this fucking broom closet, I’m getting claustrophobic.

I know, in Seoul a 130 sq ft apartment is $500 a month. I can rent 650 sq ft for $750 here, but that’s as small as you can find. You either pay $750 for more space than you need or you go homeless.

What do you consider cheap? $650 is the cheapest 1 bed room apartment I can find, but it’s cockroach infested and in a ghetto. $750 and up is where decent apartments start.

That’s cheap for a lot of places, I’m sure. Minimum wage here is $7.25 though so our monthly income would be around $850 after tax if you worked 40 hour weeks. Most jobs will only give you 25 hours. I make $1450 monthly.

For context, I bought a ~1300-1500 square foot house between ~$100k-150k in a white neighborhood. The same house would cost double if not more in shitholes. California, NYC, Chicago, any hipster liberal trash city, etc.

There's no reason to move out of your parents' place if you cannot afford to live on your own, especially if you have to rent, which is a proper scam in itself (no equity gained).
