Yes those marble statues are boring af and so are the paintings. Michael Angelo and DaVinci suck. They are also just as degenerate as modern art and usually have genitalia all over them like no more different or less degenerate than some deviant art furry porn drawing. It really isn’t different from porn. Actually the furry artist is probably more creative since he is creating something from fantasy out of his autistic mind whereas the classical artist is just painting some boring irl shit like a portrait or something. Art is retarded and for losers anyways. I can’t think of a bigger waste of time than becoming an artist. lol you will never get anywhere with that talent. I can just pull up an AI and get artwork in a microsecond that’s better than your shitty work you slave over for hours.

I agree tbh. Like, people art that is more "realistic" is better. But when you ask people about art, they dont even know anything about it. Like they cant even tell quality between art from each other. Its like, if you knew music theory, you probably would loose interest in 99% of pop music because you would see the underlying patterns and realize its all the same shit over and over.

Same for art. There are millions of top tier artists out there, working in video game industry, or even in fine art still. But its a dead field, technically. So what if you spend decades honing your skills, what is the point? Draw another pretty nude girl with a pensive gaze?

The art that people nowadays call primitive, like old religious iconography etc, is unironically deeper than "realistic" art. But you can only understand this when you get basic religious concepts, like the problem of creator-creation distinction. For instance, in christianity and many other religions, the essence of god is completely unknowable to humans. So knowledge and learning actually dont get you closer to god, in fact they may move you away from the divine. This is the origin of spiritual practises like eastern meditation, where you try to disolve yourself from knowledge and desire to unite with god, become more like him/it.

The art of these cultures reflects that. The abstract is closer to the divine than the concrete and earthly. It's like how a symbol is closer to the essence of the thing it refers to than a more refined instantiation.
For instance, this emoji " :lul:" is an icon for the metaphysical concept of "joy."
However, if we replaced it with a giga HD super realistic face, it wouldnt have the same impact and universal appeal.
The emoji is closer to the actual concept, more universally applicable, closer to the essence of what "joy" means.

Art as a mere depiction of objects in the world, no matter how skillful the representation of what is depicted, is primitive.
