It only takes a very cursory look at data from the past – history books, novels, paintings, photographs, records and testimonies, statistics – to observe that in olden times, ugly men had it a lot better, in all areas of life. It is not my intention to prove such a thing to my readers. Casually dismissing the tautology that ugly men had it better in the past displays a willful and crude ignorance of all Western culture, ignorance that I have no intention of remedying by myself.
Now, why did ugly men have it better in the past? Many explanations have been proposed over the last decade by a variety of thinkers. They all fall short of the truth, in my opinion. Here are the most common explanations devised by the "manosphere":
Christianity never had the stated goal of making the life of ugly men easier. However, its policies and its influence on culture, for a reason that may be fully coincidental or fully intended for (which I believe, given the usual type of the priest class), did this precise thing for nineteen long centuries.
Do I need to enumerate all the things Christianity did for ugly men? I probably don't, but I will do it anyway:
I would add something possibly more important than all this-- religion gave ugly men self-respect. The more you insist on the value of work, chastity, virtue and works of the mind, the more you devalue the animalistic and Dyonisiac aspect of the human species. In the Middle Ages, Chad was worthless -- ugly bishops, civil servants or craftsmen were able to tower over him and strike fear into his heart. Try to picture that for at least one second, then get back to fapping or whatever.
Now, why did ugly men have it better in the past? Many explanations have been proposed over the last decade by a variety of thinkers. They all fall short of the truth, in my opinion. Here are the most common explanations devised by the "manosphere":
- Women don't need "beta bucks" anymore. For most of recorded history, women needed a man to bring home the proverbial bacon. Now that they work themselves, and work in a real job, not as some kind of domestic slave, they can afford to strive for men in better accordance with their innate tastes. It is not even necessary that their paramours work, since the weaker sex has got everything under control. Get lost with your bacon, Freddie; I ain't putting up with your ugly ass no more. Now that is certainly a great part of the explanation, but it merely opens the door for more questions: why did women suddenly start to work? Why didn't they work before?
- Feminism: accusing feminism is like accusing anti-Semitism of having killed Jews. It raises more questions: where did feminism come from, and most importantly, why did it meet so much success and so little resistance. I personally can't take seriously anyone who stops his intellectual journey at "feminism".
- The Jews: under this conspiracy theory, Jews have attempted to undermine Western society for thousands of years, and saw in women a tool to realize this burning desire. The liberal policies pushed by the Jews have had for effect to strongly decrease the fertility rate of Christian whites, and accidentally, to completely exclude ugly men from the reproductive market. I find such a conspiracy theory unconvincing because modern Jews, excluding the very few who remained orthodox, suffer from the exact same problems as every other race nowadays. And even if the conspiracy was real, just like for feminism, it doesn't explain why white men went along with it so easily.
- Technology: the famous contraceptive Pill was invented shortly after World War II and finally uncoupled sex from children. Traditional morality had so far explained the taboo on sex partly by the risk of out-of-wedlock births, an argument that no longer had any basis. Simultaneously, the rise of homemaking electric appliances (refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, vacuum) delivered the housewife newfound free time, time she decided to use for work and economic independence rather than for leisure. But can technology explain everything?

- The institution of marriage between one man and one woman (enforced monogamy). It is similar to a forced peg between currencies that strongly devalues Chad currency and strongly increases the value of omega currency. If you don't understand why or how, go back to the basics on mammalian sexual dynamics and female hypergamy.
- The strong prohibition of divorce
- The strong prohibition of sex before marriage
- The separation of the sexes in school.
