On paper, he’s absolutely amazing. We have so much in common, and he’s incredibly kind and sweet. I like him a lot already.

That said, I’m struggling with some of my insecurities, and I feel like I might not be being entirely fair to him.

Here’s the thing: I’ve always been the short one (4’11”) in most of my relationships, and it’s become a big part of my personality. I know I’m short, and while it doesn’t usually bother me, I do sometimes wish I were a little taller. I’m mature enough to know that appearances don’t matter, and I’ve never cared about how my partners look. It’s always been about the connection.

But in his pictures, he looks short too—maybe around my height or a few inches shorter or taller than me. I don’t know his exact height, and I’ve never asked him (nor do I plan to). I would hate to project my insecurities onto him or give him the impression that I care about something so trivial. That’s not the kind of person I am, and I like him far too much to risk hurting him like that.
