Nowadays, you need to have every good trait possible. Any time you have a bad trait, it compounds on top of your other bad traits. If you are ugly, and you have brown eyes, just getting blue eyes isn't going to change anything in the grand scheme of things. But if you had blue eyes instead of brown, your life would definintely be brighter since you would have at least +1 good trait.
