When I was younger I liked reading about the history and culture of more obscure nations. I found them to be very interesting for some reason.

Yes. I was very fascinated by the history of China and Japan.
Japan and China. Call me a weeb but the intense different between their cultures and others always interested me. Especially the dynasties, all the different weapons created such as gunpowder, and the difference revolutions. They're so interesting.

One region that I've always been fascinated with was Central Asia. A mix of ethnicities, cultures, languages etc all converged there.

Japan. Not for it's culture exports but more for the rigid social hierarchy there. To me it seems like most people at least pretend to be civlilized... Same thing with India and it's caste system.
Great food, great architeture, millenar interesting history, it's has a religion only specific to that region (which makes it unique in many aspects), great landscapes, hardworking people, IIT JEE and so on
Interesting, tbh I dropped out of highschool so I don't know much about it.
It was kind of like pre-Islamic Arabia. City states, raiders, trade, and large foreign superpowers trying to control the whole region.

mostly Eurocentric history byzantine more than anything. Some towel head history interested me the rest of the lesser races largely during colonialism and how it pertained to Europeans. I do know some precolonial Chinese, Japanese, Mali, Songhai, Safavid, ottoman, Indian and antiquity history but it is a bit lacking tbh.
