It was back then, when I was 9, and my mother took me to a relative's house. Food was on the table, and I saw this dark, muddy bowl full of meat. I was too hungry, so I took a bite, without knowing what I was eating.

In Vanuatu it's quite expensive and usually just the richer group eat dogs, especially in the highlands. A friend of mine eats it often and says it has a very strong flavour and tastes like lamb.
