I got like 20 bots on Tinder and 2 actual human scammers.
Okay, one of the scammers was really weird. It's like they wanted to judge me as morally corrupted before scamming me.
After matching the first thing "she" asked was if I had a girlfriend. "No, that's why I'm here." She said she was cheating on her boyfriend. After chatting for a bit, she told me to meet her on Skype.
Yep, so at this point I pretty much knew it was a scam, but the one percent chance this was legit made me get on Skype (the picture of the girl on Tinder could only be called 'plain jane' if you were being very generous). I got on Skype but refused to get on camera until "she" did; of course she didn't.
So she keeps asking me more questions about if I'm violent, criminal, or if I cheated on past girlfriends etc etc (no to all). Finally "she" says she like rough sex, and asks if I liked simulating rape. Honestly, I don't. But I thought, okay if that's what she likes then I'll go along with it. After saying I was excited by simulated rape, that's when she immediately started pushing me to go to a url she sent, then give them my credit card number, so we could 'chat on a program she liked more than Skype.'
So this had gone far enough and I left the chat. Got my hopes up for nothing, dammit!
This has happened to me one time since then, but this particular scam sticks out because the person on the other end was desperate for me to have some moral transgression that would allow them to scam me with a clear conscious. Weird, right?
Oh and once I was stood up for a date. Those are the closest things I've experienced to cat fishing.
