The Internet used to be a comfort zone for weirdos and losers. Yes normies still browsed but they were the bizarre and interesting ones, kind of lolcow with unique personality outside of just shaming outcasts
Nowadays especially post-Covid fucking everyone is browsing reddit and youtube. Everything has to pass through an internet filter. Contemporary culture is influenced BY the Internet instead of the Internet being influenced by IRL culture.
Blackpill used to be about incels and slayers posting their life experiences for example. But nowadays it’s just people regurgitating BOTB guides and applying common sense shit like self care and exercise through a blackpill filter (skinMAXXing, gymMAXXing, hobbyMAXXing).
And normies are the gatekeepers now too. Normies shamed all the weirdos and banned them from posting on their own spaces. How can normies gatekeep? They don’t represent or stand for anything. Normies are supposed to BE GATEKEPT. They have always been a danger to Internet culture.
At least Incels.is is one of the few places that somewhat feel like pre-COVID Internet. People here avoid using gay terminology/slang and just speak plain English, they don’t pass everything through a normie filter in order to be accepted
