XXXTentacion made this term IIRC, the v coming from his "Very Rare/Members Only" rap group, and I thought people kinda stopped using it after he fell off (well, fell off the face of the Earth to be exact). But I've seen multiple people including anandkonda of all niggas use it on here. Has there been a trend or something on mainstream social media to bring it back? I wouldn't know 'cause I'm not currently on any normie platforms

Sure but X died a year before TikTok became what it is now. Also a lot of these TikTok zoomers grew up on him, so I don't really see the novelty in the adoption of this term

It's part of the whole hood irony/"freaky" thing on TikTok that blew up some time ago. Though that's old news now. "Freakbob", the papyrus font, etc. The use of "vro" is ironic.

Basically the same as "I'm not like other girls" but you're a nigger or a wigger.

I see. Lol.

I was on the periphery of the hood irony community on Instagram (where the term originates from) back in 2020-2021. Followed pages like 60percenthomo, shidoger, peenigga, etc. Though it seems like "hood irony" is just used as a catch-all term for absurdist memes involving ghetto slang or artists now, as the stuff getting big seems to have little to do with the stuff I was seeing on Instagram back then.

I was somewhat oblivious to this stuff getting mainstreamed on TikTok, as I'm allergic to the normie side of that app. No wonder I've encountered people from those old IG circles moving into far right/blackpill content now
