Otherwise you might as well just clone your device and post it straight to MI5/NSA/MOSSAD. In fact it's worse than that because they can put spyware, backdoors etc. on your phone.

Yes they can do that and have done by other routes but you can at least lock the door and make them pick the lock or break in, rather than drive up to the burglar's house and carry your belongings in for him.
