Besides being next to the US and english-speaking, Canadians are also the only country whose citizens can enter the US freely anytime w/o a visa - which leads to a lot of them meeting Americans. Besides not being english-speaking, Mexicans obviously don't have that luxury to interact with Americans. And Mexicans who entered illegally (i.e. not a visa expiration) have a difficult process of getting a green card even through marriage to a U.S. Citizen - which likely discourages some Americans from marrying their Mexican gf's.
