The government should have no say in how parents raise their children. Same goes with online ID laws for certain websites/social media. It's not the role of the law to parent children.

I honestly fail to see a reason for them to not exist.

Contrary to what many believe, professional gladiators rarely died in the arena, as that would be a waste of all the time that was put in to train them. Truth be told, they had far more in common with the athletes we have nowadays, even advertising products in exchange for currency. In fact, there was a Roman emperor (Commodus) who regularly fought as a gladiator.

Only slaves were released to the lions and whatnot.
