I'm enrolled in a programming course and today it was my turn. Time to show the class what I'd done over the course of two weeks. So I do the presentation and the project overview and everything's fine and dandy.
Then the clever guy shows his project. It has another additional module used. It has an AI generated background artwork. The title is in the sickest font I've ever seen. You can't resize nor maximize the window (so the background image doesn't upscale and look like shit). It has royalty-free music playing. On page turn, there's a sound of a paper page turning (which fadeouts btw, so it doesn't hurt the ear). The main menu is on a sidebar.
He shows the code and I'm floored. Clever guy wrote over 2400 lines of code. I hit 400 in my app. He inserted the text inside three sets of quotation marks. I barely know what one set does. Everything in his white swan of an application is perfectly centered and nice looking, down to the last button and line. My ugly duckling ass is permanently hugging the left side of the window.
The only thing I have over him is that I know English and he doesn't. And he can learn English in a matter of months (probably weeks but let's be generous to me), but I can't learn to code in a matter of months. So it's basically a cultured fool against a manual worker genius type of comparison.
