I was going 66mph in a 40mph zone. A few things to keep in mind:
-I was very tired.
-I was almost out of food, and needed to get to Walmart before it closed.
-I didn't accelerate fast, and I was not consciously aware I was speeding.
-The road is super wide and long, yet has a 40mph speed limit (too low, in my opinion. Should be more like 55).
-It was very foggy, and my defroster wasn't working very fast. I could barely see the signs on the road.
-Also, it was a very dark road with thick trees blocking out the light. For example, there was a guy walking in the bike lane, and being in the right lane, I flinched a bit when I passed him.
-11am, nobody on the road, didn't see the cop at all.
Looking online, speeding tickets in CA are approximately $234. I want to do traffic school so I won’t get a point on my license.
I love how the only time I’ve gotten ticketed was when I wasn’t consciously speeding. I have driven like a bat out of hell the past 9 years, and didn’t get ticketed once. Go figure.
