I’m specifically talking about 80s & 90s Gospel. Only American Blackcels who grew up in church will truly understand this.

I don’t consider myself Christian at all anymore, but that old school Gospel music is some of the purest copium ever made. I understand now why people in my church growing up got so emotional during service. Most of the congregation was poor, working shitty jobs, and living overall miserable lives. When they started catching the Holy Ghost, it was a perfect excuse to let out their insanity for a few minutes.

Old school Gospel music is made to evoke maximum emotion. Even listening to it by myself is a fantastic cope, although I can’t go full Holy Ghost crazy.

What song is a good start for someone who's never listened to it? I'm desperate for new copes

Yea I like it. Christian music around the holidays is peak comfy. I forget I’m a miserable incel for just a brief moment

How is this only relatable to American Blackcels? Literally the entire point of Evangelical Christianity is to evoke an emotional response that overrides any and all logical reasoning in its believers in order to instill servitude and a sense of hope. People of all races, ethnicities, and nationalities that suffer economic atrocities and humanitarian injustices can be found worshipping Christ, speaking in tongues, crying their hearts out during Sunday service, Wednesday bible study, weekend retreats.
