Whatever choice you go with USB method or DVD, i prefer the CD-Rom oldschool way of doing the installation.

You can make tweaks to the registry to make it safer for online activity, and Supermium is the browser. You just need a dual-Core CPU. Dont run with a Pentium4 since Supermium doesn't support it.

Or, you can make a strictly offline NASA tier personal analog computer.

Making the partition in Win10 say... From a 500GB SSD use 350GB's , leaving 15-20% disk space for the garbage collection built-in firmware to sort out the sectors.
It is the workaround for the missing TRIM thingy, which Windows XP does not support it.
Keeping the correct allignment.
Disable auto-defrag in Windows obviously.
