RageFuel Good morning pancakecel. I have some concerns related to alcohol stores in the UK (England/Great Britain). I do not think that the store name is ideal

Alcohol stores in the UK are called ''Off-licence''?? Are you kidding me, mang? :feelsohgod:

What sort of name is ''off-licence''? It should be called ''alcohol store''. Another acceptable term would be ''liquor store''. If you really want to include the word ''licence'', you could call it ''alcohol-licence store'' to indicate that the store has a license to sell alcohol.

But do not call it ''off-licence'' because it is not ideal!

Sorry kafir but we need to feel safe and respected here so you will have to deal with it.

How is this even possible? Do UKcels tell to themselves ''I am going to the off-licence to buy beer''?

Drunk driving get you off license too!

Alcohol gives me a headache.

Resturants in the USA also needs a license to sell alcohol

In the UK you need a license to sell alcohol.

An off license means you can sell booze but it has to be drunk off the shops building premise not inside it. You have to take it home to drink.

Some shops put up a sign that says off license so people know they are allowed to buy booze for take away.

An on license allows drinking on the premises like a pub or bar.

stupid britbongs getting colonised

Wtf, zero is called ''nought'' in Britain??

When they talk about car speed, they say ''nought to sixty''

I don't think this is good for me at all.

Also, the currency. They have pounds AND pence, this is too confusing. It is difficult to read their currency and this caused me issues at my job, which is a call center job. Sometimes there are British customers. There was a guy who seemed to think I was incompetent because I didn't know how to tell him a service costs 59.99 GBP.

I read it as ''fifty nine point ninety nine pounds'', but apparently you are supposed to say ''fifty nine pounds and ninety nine pence''.

Americans also have it complicated with dollars, pennies, quarters, nickels, dimes. But they don't say all that, they just say the number value of the currency.

@Pancakecel this currency system is not favorable to me! :feelsUgh:

I prefer to now daydream what my life would be like, if my parents hadn't moved us from estonia, to this miserable island in 2000, instead of thinking about the country further. The negativity of everything, is just grinding me down. I need something good in my life, to give me a bit of hope but there's nothing.
