In a sense we are as deterministic as that but what about the soul and the subconscious? What about you as a being? Do you believe it is just a matter of stimulus/response?

I believe our resulting being is what we as individuals decide to do with the aftermath of the stimulus/response. I do believe we have a responsibility, and with enough reflection we decide to use the stock of life experiences to learn new ways in life, making us more unique. Free will is, in my opinion, the mutation and transformation of what you have received. I do believe it is (or at least will be) all scientifically proven, it is just the infinite interaction of neurons.

We humans are bias into thinking our existence matters and is grounded into something beyond the physical. In reality our brains are machines that have evolved over billions of years and reached a unmeasurable level of complexity in the way it works and responds that it gives the illusion of free will. Evidence of this is that our behaviour and personality change drastically when our brains are altered by trauma or chemicals
