I was a fucking dweeb when I was younger. Out of ironic Nostalgia, I was watching a review of Nostalgia Critic's Ferngully (Incel / autism trait btw, you are a social retard if you know who this guy is). And oh my fucking God, I couldn't even stand the plot of that fucking children's movie because of the romance dynamics.
The same archteypal story. The "civilized woman" finding our "poor barbarian" [but handsome!] man. She tries to "civilize" him to society while his "bad boy" demeanor challenges her but attracts her at the same time. They both grow in different ways, she steps outside her comfort zone and he becomes more human. He faces the family and friends who challenge his dominance, he proves superior, then they go away to a "magical cave" where they have metaphorical sex (they gaze into each other's eyes and hold hands which glow and "become one").
I think what's funnier than this is the fact that our "genius" critics were completely in the dark to the overall narrative going on. They picked up on the fact that the "sex" scene seemed bizzarely sexual and made a joke about that, but that's about it.
God I fucking hate being awoken to bullshit archetypal narratives, you can't even watch basic media without realizing how fake it is. How much is human civilization predicated on lies and metaphorical carrot on sticks.
