What's up guys, long time no see. Anyway, I asked a similar question months ago and was interested to hear what everyone does as far as career, hobbies, etc in order to eke out some measure of happiness despite the setbacks we face everyday. Personally, i am going to school in the sciences to try to make it in research somehow, and I write music in my spare time. As far as media I enjoy, I like scifi stuff and manga etc. When I focus on those things, life is a little easier. What are some of the things that you do and are planning to do to have some meaning in life?

I'm just studying hard to get a high paying job. I want to be a millionaire before 30 and hopefully retire in my mid30s. That's my ultimate goal.

nice, you might want to look into the FIRE movement. I also have a similar goals, though I don't necessarily want to be a millionaire. I just want to try and make sure i can live independant of the daily grind as early as possible so that all the activities i'll do later in life will be because i want to not because i have to. that is one of the only silver linings of being an incel. no girls = no kids = far lower expenses over the course of your lifetime.

I think we should use proper therms to describe emotional states. Enjoying anime, music, jrps or whatever you like brings you ENJOYMENT as you are deeply focused on the story, characters, exploring, grinding etc. You are totally immersed in your hobby and this focus brings you the mental pleasures of losing yourself in non worldly dimensions (even hiking could do the job very well).

But HAPPINESS is a whole different animal. It is waiting for christmas as you were a kid and when you are an adult it is waiting to meet your girlfriend and once met cuddling, watching each other in the eyes and feeling the sweet scent of her hair. It is a feeling of being fully accepted.The feeling you are not alone in this world but you are a complete human being worthy of respect, care and love.

good luck on the sex puppet. i kinda want to get into drawing as well, but primarily so that i can make album art in the future for my music releases. I kinda want to get a digital sketch pad; there are some cheapish ones in the $50 range that look cool. I'm reading several manga at the moment that are self-released by artists, and it seems that the majority of self-released stuff i see like that is digitally drawn. though, i'll admit, the majority of the manga industry has gone in that direction, some manga definitely has that digitally drawn vibe compared to manga put out by major publishers

i disagree. i don't think that happiness can exclusively be gotten through social interaction. sure that's a major component of being a well adjusted person and generally having a good mood, i don't think that the emotion of happiness is gotten solely through interaction with a romantic partner. as you put it in your example, you can be happy without a romantic partner involved as a kid during christmas, and you can also gain happiness through activities you enjoy and accomplishign goals.
