The G minor chord is made up of the notes G, Bb, and D. It is produced by playing the 1st (root), flat 3rd, and 5th notes of the G Major scale.2 The notes of the G minor natural scale are G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, and F. To play the G minor chord on the guitar, place the tip of your first finger on the sixth string at the third fret, flatten your finger, and press down to make a barre across to the first string. Put your third finger on the fifth fret of the fifth string, and your fourth finger on the fifth fret of the fourth string. Strum all six strings. To play the G minor chord on the piano, simply press G, Bb and D.
