Giving Red Dead Redemption 2 a second chance

I tried to play this game back in 2019 and dropped it around 12% thinking it was too slow, boring and realistic. Also I played it at a quite bad time as I was busy with uni exams so didn't have much time to play. I feel this is a game you need to devote time and be relaxed to enjoy.

I haven't reached the part I was before (getting someone from the gang out of jail) but I've done more exploration and sidequests so it's showing 20% now. And so far really enjoying it. Yes the pace is rather slow but this time it doesn't feel boring. Also I remembered the controls way clunkier than what they really are. Dunno if I'll complete it but so far my opinion is more positive than 5 years ago.

Btw the gang could be gypsies since they live in a camp and get their money from scams, theft and loan sharking kek

The story is pretty fun to play through the first time and You can go ER in the towns too

The game is good but the story really starts getting bad after the midpoint, you can tell where they rushed things as some stuff just feels stretched and convenient.

Well today I finished the epilogue and saw the end credits. Happy I gave this game a second chance as I enjoyed it lots, really memorable and can see why it got so much praise The setting, graphics and characters are amazing and gameplay once you get the hang of it is satisfactory. Also this is one of the few modern games with gore and dismemberment system as shotgun can blow off heads and limbs. You can see that Rockstar put lots of effort into the game.

But at the same time I can see why some people (me in the past included) find it slow and boring. There's lots of horse riding and talking and specially in the earlier parts of the game you just do errands like go to town to buy food. Which makes it more realistic and immersive but can feel boring too. In RDR1 you quickly started the shooting missions while in RDR2 while there's shooting from the beginning then you spend some time doing more calm stuff. But after that there's plenty of shooting again.

I mostly focused on the main story and did plenty of side quests (not all) and still the game took me a long time (about a month) to beat. If I had also focused on hunting, crafting and side jobs it would have probably been much longer. I give it a 9/10.

I thought it would be fun but the gameplay just seemed so meh. After I murdered the retard in the horse barn I just turned off the game, I have no interest in it.

Did you try Red Dead Redemption 1? I think that one has a better beginning as it isn't so slow and the gameplay is simpler. The game holds up surprisingly well after 14 years. I did the 100% earlier this year after buying the remaster on sale.

Best storyline IMO

Enjoy it, take your time with it, it’s definitely not a game that’s meant to be rushed
