My dad was based. He gave no fuck about us besides money and school. Only the best performer in school got something, the others had to beg mom.
It indeed is. My parents and their brother and sisters are all from the boomer generation and they all, without exception, used to beat their sons, but never their daughters.
Almost all sons turned out right but absolutely all daughter ended up being roasties and single mothers.
My boomer father even beat me for things I had never done and when that came to light he didn't even apologize or somehow make up for it.
Instead he said shit like "It's nothing. He will live." .
