Aristotle would say that a city/polis must be self-sufficient, which naturally requires a multitude of different people. Different people must make different contributions, play different roles and fit into different social classes. Otherwise, a city will not be able to perform the many functions necessary to remain self-sufficient.

That's a presupposition. In a world where every man was an attractive tall super genius we'd all still have to fulfill all the roles, but we'd all atleast have equally enjoyable romantic lives, which means we'd want to contribute to society and actually care about it. Not only that, we'd advance way faster as a species to the extent that we'd probably already have robots right now that do all of the physical labor jobs.

If everybody was "perfect" from the start we'd have a more balanced and prosperous society.

The reason why we have problems in society is because of the inherent inequality of existence, that's why we have to put so much damn time and resources into trying to equalize the world, when that time and resources could have been spent on science.

What Aristotle is talking about is how we simply "get by" with the hand we've already been dealt. That has nothing to do with how things would work if everyone was dealt an equally perfect hand.

It is self-sufficient, but it definitely isn't sustainable when men's genes determine not only what they specialize in but also whether they get any respect in return for what they contribute.
