The advice for him is to unironically shower, get a new haircut, style his beard and get new clothes.
But all of those changes, work on the condition hes not mentally gone. So if he can do all those things he can do something.
The fact that he even needs to ask this question tells me that it's going to be extremely difficult if not impossible for him to ascend.

The reason for all of this is that there parents almost never said no to them. They grew up cuddled and have the mentallity of a spoiled 12 year old.
