It's incompetence. Devs today simply aren't as talented as the devs of yesterday. You used to get games running at 60fps without having to purchase a pro version of a console. (Or in the case of switch 1, only when ran on the switch 2)


Muh games are better than ever, bro! Lag is cinematic bro!

Oh, and in five years these retards will ignore how these games came out laggy on current platforms, as they drool over the game running at 120fps on a more powerful platform/upgraded PC.

Yeah, these developers are incapable of actually optimizing their video games even though it's their job, but they can somehow get away with this by normies being submissive drones.

The lack of optimization literally multiplied every modern games file size. Also the added DRM they fill their games with so their games don't get pirated. They're just money smelling kikes that think they deserve full price for a half-assed not polished game.

Now that computers are ridiculously fast, the need to write optimal code became less demanding, and as a result, complete amateurs were able to enter the game dev industry and shit up all the codebases with their subpar, sub-optimal code.
 
Gen X was the most talented generation when it comes to making and coding games, they always wanted for games took have pretty graphics with distinct artstyle and make it run well on it's original hardware. Ports were often crappy and rushed but that's most likely due publishers trying to squeeze quick buck we can't blame those devs as publishers are now even worse they just rush entire game or even worse let lazy devs to sit on game for years and not release it on time not hitting any of the deadlines.

Millennials and zoomers devs are just the worst. Their incompetence is showing in modern games that were released since release of PS4

I believe there was also less of a headache because devs used to write games for specific os and devices. I do have some sympathy for the new gamedevs.

Most game engines can seamlessly port projects to other platforms with little effort.

and most modern slop is made with preexisting engines rather than proprietary ones, so it's not like the devs are actually doing any of the cross-platform coding.

That is the issue. The seamless porting comes with a lot of garbage.

i got expedition 33 a week after launch on gamepass on my series s, it had no bugs, ran smoothly and had stable 30fps. i did end up buying the game for ps5 after act 1 as one i loved it so much i wanted to support the devs, it was set in france in the belle epoque era and ethnically you only see people who belong in belle epoque france, no reason not to buy. the game on ps5 is a beast it is like only 40gb, consistent 60 fps at 1080p. it doesnt have ray tracing but like the reflections look just as good

Are you sure games were running 60 fps back then cause old console games don't have fps counter people just assume it's running top notch like GTA 5 Xbox and PS3 20 fps

Why would the executive or people at the top make game devs optimize games that will cost them money when people will tolerate it
