First party Nintendo games were at their best in terms of quality. There's basically no bad Nintendo games on GameCube. Almost every Nintendo IP experimented in some way. Mario Sunshine with water mechanics, Donkey Kong with bongos, Zelda with boat and wolf gimmicks, Star Fox with ground combat, double racers in Mario Kart, F zero with larger races.
This wasn't modern tier Nintendo "Look at zeh wacky realistic people in Mario!" This was actually experimentation in gameplay and innovation.
Not only did Nintendo breathe life into old IPs, but we got a ton of new and interesting games such as Pikmin, (one of my favorites) Luigi's Mansion, Chibi Robo, and Custom Robo.
I'd also argue it was the first time since the SNES that Nintendo has great first part support. They decided to target a more mature audience with the GameCube and got the definitive version of RE4 at the time as well as RE1 remake. Ofc there were other fantastic third party games such as Super Monkey Ball and Phantasy Star Online.
We'll never get another generation like GameCube. GameCube was the last Nintendo console to target hardcore gamers.
