-They are a bunch of over politicized imbeciles, especially their most recent generations, the millenials, everything to the shit in the toilet has to have some deep political meaning, this, combined with their ignorance, assures the spreading of political stupidity both home and aboard; I assume this is a way to cope thinking they are in control on their countries instead of a bunch of shadow corporations.

-They give welfare to subhuman, useless animals like single mothers that don't give absolutely nothing in return except future criminals, yet they refuse to subsidize plastic surgery for people that can be future leaders, inventors, artists and Ceo, aka ugly incels.

The moral decay that began in the 1960's with the spread of free love and recreational drug use has overcome and nullified the traditional values which once made this country a respectable place to live. You are right that we have surrendered ourselves to materialism and the superficiality of greed. I could never read Nietzsche, though I can comprehend and appreciate the lucidity of his ubermensche ideas. Everything else he writes is just so inaccessible and I've studied other philosophers.

It took me literally months to get through Gibbon. I read it online over at Project Gutenburg and I seem to recall that the page count was north of 1000. Like Tolstoy however, I would say that it is worth the read and the time. Pure edification as well as a brilliant piece of literature.

That's a bit trite, especially in the face of Gibbon's magisterial work which by the way is accepted as the definitive history of Rome yet to this day by classicists and historians. The modulating influence that Christianity has on modern culture is in no way comparable to the effect it had on Roman culture. Roman paganism and the militarism which it inspired was the ultimate form of societal advancement, like Sparta, not a state with an army but an army with a state. Christianity then came along and corrupted the traditional virtues which helped reduce the martial prowess of Rome's legions.
