First, second, and third world is an artificial and outdated concept, a product of the Cold War era, and doesn't have much relevance in today's world.

I think it still does.
These categories of course have different names today (centre, core, periphery, semi-periphery, etc.) and some countries switched to a different category, but the overall structure hasn't changed that much in my opinion.
