.Tbh, I'm starting to think that those numbers are greatly understated by the way this issue is defined. When you're old, you go to those countries primarily for that, since you have nothing else to do there. Male sex tourists are also middle-aged on average, if not older. However, that doesn't mean that young people aren't doing it as well, it's just that sex with locals is something they already take for granted while visiting a country for different reasons, while an old person can't really take sex for granted that way. Whenever a bunch of white 20-somethings say that they are going to SEA to "experience the culture" or "enjoy the food", everyone knows what will probably happen there sexually, and that those guys probably aren't going to fuck each other. Similarly, when you have hordes of young women spending their gap years going to "do humanitarian work" in Africa, I mean, everyone knows what they are actually going to do, but the halo of being young, good-looking and female protects them from scrutiny and from being called out.
