It's a manifestation of his insecurities, all the media and consumerist propaganda which is spewed at him from every direction for 30 years, instilling in him the man he's supposed to be. I was talking about the stupidity of him shooting himself but surviving. Just randomness. But yeah, the ending overall is very Hollywood. I didn't even care for the "twist" (even though it makes the film less chad-worshipy).
