Anyone who insists we are becoming less religious in our current era misses the dynamic that's going on. This side-by-side comparison shows it quite clearly. Religion hasn't disappeared. It's just feminism has replaced them all to become society's official religion you cannot question. We as a species haven't become less worshipful, more questioning or more rational.

Most people find it hard to have purpose without religion so they follow quasi-religions instead. For example, many follow the religion of materialism/grinding. Others follow the religion of drugs. And like OP said, foid worshipism is another modern religion.
Politics in general replaced religion, people nowadays first thing they identify themselves is political allegiance.
