I see this applying mostly to games, but happens in movies/series too. I base this on the passive approach women take in life, where they are basically handed everything on a platter.
On a game, where you are the one driving actions, it seems so unlikely that a women would be this active and do all that's needed to progress the game's story. In movies and series I get the same feeling when there is a "badass" foid taking charge and being the main driving force of the plot.
