You can see this all the time, female hypergamy exaggerates attraction patterns to extremes while for men these things are just very easily ignoreable preferences.
I believe it is because men have a much larger testo and therefore a much larger libido, so they are satisfied by much less, while women need much more intense things to be satisfied.

Civilization requires we all play nice to some extent. To reap the benefits of civilization (one of which is technological progress) certain behaviors had to be repressed. Besides, I kinda like not having to fear for my life when walking in public. Civilized behaviors benefit men as well. Chastity is a civilized behavior. Just because Western youngsters aren't chaste anymore doesn't mean chastity ain't civilized.
