From an evolutionary stand point, in most species, sexual selection acts on the males only. Females are guaranteed to breed no matter what while only males possessing certain features get to pass on their genetics. This sexual selection is what resulted in our brains getting larger in a very short span of time (whereas natural selection would have taken many more years as lack of a big brain is not detrimental to survival).
As a result of this, one can expect the males of most species to possess 'beautiful' traits and the females to look bland or boring. Below pics show these features in some species.
Peafowls:
The male completely mogs the peahen to oblivion. No contest here.
Lions:
Not such a stark contrast in lions, although one can safely say male lion has many more attractive (or selectable) traits compared to the females.
Mandarin ducks :
Butterflies:
Lot of such examples in the animal kingdom where the male are much more 'beautiful' than the females.
This is the same in humans. Remove fake up and you can see how bland and boring looking foids are. Female beauty is a joke.
