Pluto is no longer considered a planet, but even so it has things going for it. It has water ice, it has volatiles, it has five moons (ie orbiters) and it even has an atmosphere of sorts.
Mercury is just as small but it's pockmarked like an acne victim, has no moons and no atmosphere.

Correct. Pluto isn't even the only dwarf planet. There are also Ceres (which was also considered a planet at one point), Eris, Makemake, Haumea and others. That's what the "other" option is for.

There's about like 3 requirements for a planet.
according to the IAU
1. It's in the solar system
2. It has a planetary mass for it's own gravity so it a round shape.
3. It doesn't share it's orbit around the sun with anything else. (Orbital dominance)
So if it meets the first two like Pluto does then it's a Dwarf Planet.
