Favorite avant garde/weird art pieces (literature, theatre, paintings, etc.) that deal with suicide, God's abandonment of humanity, etc.

What;s your favorite artwork (generally defined to include literary, philosophical, visual-artistic, multimedia, theatrical, etc. works) that deal with "the death of God," atheological and depressing themes, suicide, etc.?

I'm talking about works like Waiting for Godot, Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights, American Psycho, Francis Bacon (painter), etc.

It can be modernist/postmodernist but doesn't have to be.

If music is allowed, I'd include Richard Wagners compositions. As for literature, probably Storm of Steel by Ernst Junger if this counts
