This is from a game called road 96, it has a lot of good views and spots, one spot is on a mountain, I cant find an exact photo of it, but its pretty nice
 
Markarth from Skyrim. It's cool how the ppl in Skyrim "recycled" some Dwemer ruins and inhabited them, I also like that the city is distributed vertically and some houses or businesses are really high so you can enjoy the scenery. The house you can buy is also pretty neat and big. I also like the grittiness and darkness of the city with the forsworn lurking nearby, the evil house with Molag Bal, slavery, conspiracies, etc. It's one of the most original places in the game and the most unique city, the architecture reminds me of Aztecs or other native American civilizations. If Skyrim was a real place I wouldn't want to live there (too corrupt and dangerous, better live in Whiterun or Solitude) but since it's fiction it's cool going there.
 
Sorry if this doesn't constitute as an 'Area' but i always loved the House of Decay map in Quak

Game had some amazing graphics for it's time and also a lot of interactivity in that starting segment. It was also done portal segments better than Portal which was just a rip off but much worse.
 
Star Wars the Old Republic; Planet Voss

The warm Autumn look, the serene colors, the buildings and cities being modest rather than hyper-modern and industrialized. I think this planet is the definition of cozy.

Endless fields of yellow grass, a warm relaxing breeze, endless mountains in the distance under an orange hue. I also love the ambient music.

Wake Island BATTLEFIELD 2, this is such a based map to attack on. It can feel incredibly overwhelming on the ground due to the storm of jets but it's such an superb level. The later games like in bf3 idk it just never felt the same.
