To be honest up until like a few years ago I used to say zoomers should do a lot of cold approaching before claiming to be a truecel. Then I observed how zoomers talk in real life, how they behave online and in real life, how the culture has changed, and I've seen the statistics showing most couples meet online.
Boomers who make this suggestion simply don't understand how dramatically the culture has changed in the past 15 years or so. I used to do a lot of cold approaching, and back when I was doing it, while it certainly wasn't seen as a good thing by women, it was seen as just an annoyance rather than straight up "harassment". Basically there were 3 unwritten rules that were well understood. Don't try to touch her, don't say or allude to anything sexual, and know when to walk away. As long as you followed those rules, which I always did, for the most part you were ok. I did get into a couple fights with mate-guarding boyfriends but that was always part of the cold approaching game. Rare occurrence but statistically likely if you cold approached as much as I did. But there wasn't this phenomenon where a woman would pull out her phone, take a pic of you, post it to social media and ruin your life.
It's difficult to overstate just how much the culture has changed since when I was mass cold approaching. People these days are extremely closed off, hyper-introverted, guarded, and terminally online. They don't want to be met by randos. This is especially true when it comes to women, and especially true when it comes to women being approached by random males (unless he's good looking of course). People, especially women, are paranoid of strangers, especially if they're male.
Only an out of touch boomer or a sheltered autist can't see this. With sheltered autists it's obvious why, but with boomers (using that term in the "zoomer" sense of anyone over 35 being a boomer as opposed to strictly literal baby boomers) it's because it's REALLY hard to accept that the world you grew up in no longer exists. It's a painful reality to accept. Also most people over 35 are sheltered from the current culture to some extent. Most of them only don't have much interaction with zoomers outside of family members. I work in fast food, so the majority of my coworkers are zoomers. So I have a lot more exposure to the current culture than the average guy my age.
The same logic applies to why boomers (especially literal baby boomers) are so clueless about the economic struggles of young people. They see guys working low wage jobs, living with family or roommates when they themselves already owned a house at that age. But their takeaway is that they simply "worked harder" to get that they have and that young guys these days are simply lazy, whiny and entitled and need to pick themselves up from their bootstraps.
And in both cases (the economy and the dating/social scene) they will relentlessly argue with younger generations explaining to them how much things have changed. But they will not budge. It doesn't matter how you explain it to them, how many examples you give, or how much data you show them. They will ignore all of it and just confidently double down until you realize it's futile and give up, then they think they "won".
