An aluminum plant it installed the latest generation of equipment for making aluminum. The new equipment needed half the employees and produced twice the output as before. So 4 times more aluminum per worker. I don't think America is using more aluminum than we were 50+ years ago. So we just need less workers making aluminum than before, yet we get the same production. Some stuff you don't even need to produce as much as before. Like after you already make something, you don't have to keep making it again and again.
Anyway say we needed before 100,000 aluminum workers. And now we need 25,000 to get the same output. What do the other 75,000 do. They become neets or rich retirees or fake government non-jobs. Mega copers say they can 'learn to code' or go into some other industry. What other industry, everything is downsizing the same way. Eg.. tech companies are laying off 100's of thousands of employees now.
