It’s worse than that, not only is every single species only out for itself, every single force of nature is in constant struggle and in tension with everything around it.

take a building for example. looks solid, unified, stable, harmonious? Wrong, that building is a WAR of nature, of gravity literally tearing matter down to earth while the structural integrity of the buildings chemistry struggles against it. in a thousand years, gravity will have been victorious - yet even then another war awaits the rubble as it decays, ripped apart into stardust
