In energy, America bet on natural gas, because natural gas. While Europe went woke and bet on windmills and solar farms. When the Russian natural gas got turned down, it turns out all those $100's and 100's of billions of green investments the Europeans had built they produce tiny pathetic amounts of energy.
One thing I have to credit the Euros with though is they are now scrambling to get more natural gas and even voting it to be classified as a green energy. True woke communists would double down on windmills and solar farms after failure.
