There's always been guys that are eccentric and intensely focused on subjects after being rejected by the outside world. Now that is called Aspergers and those people are denigrated as autistic. And most normies still don't fully believe in autism being a spectrum because clearly they think of rainman style autists when they think of legit autism while guys with aspergers are just "weirdos" or "assholes."
