This depends on what do you use instead. If WhatsApp/Discord or other big tech proprietary shit with zero privacy then lmao. Especially after incel discord server being nuked nth time in a row
If that's jabber or something like this then whom do you use it with? Yeah, this shit is cool, but it requires setup and people are lazy bastards.
What we have in total is:
1. Proprietary shit with zero privacy. Collecting usage statistics etc. But with a corporation behind it. But its being promoted and there are a lot of users.
2. Freeware apps like jabber. They are better, don't ask for your phone number and provide better security. But there's none behind them do they will be used by a few geeks.
2. Telegram. That kind of secure, but asks for too much personal data. And there's a company behind it maintaining and promoting it. And they only remove content that violates the law.
So yeah, telegram is not ideal, but what's better?
